Young Living’s Inner Defense gel capsules reinforce systemic defenses, create unfriendly terrain for yeast/fungus, and promote healthy respiratory function. I love to bring Inner Defense with me when I travel to support my immune system and keep me healthy while on the road or in airplanes with their recirculating air.

This is one of those supplements you always hope you don’t need, but it’s always there for you when you do.

What It’s For

When it seems like everyone around you is sick, this supplement gives your immune system an extra boost. It also helps combat weakened immunity during times of stress. It does this by creating an unfriendly environment for yeast, fungus, and bacteria, as well as promoting healthy respiratory function.

Inner Defense is not a supplement you necessarily need to use everyday; only use it when you need it, because of its high potency.

Ingredient Highlights

This supplement contains potent essential oils like oregano, thyme, and Thieves (a blend containing cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, rosemary, and lemon). These oils are rich in thymol, carvacrol, and eugenol for immune support. The thymol and carvacrol are the reason this supplement works.

Thyme was used in traditional medicine because it helps sooth gut and has anti-inflammatory effects antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiseptic affects. The chemical constituents in thyme work on T cells and leukocytes so they really help to bolster the immune system.

Carvacrol can actually help to support the production of good, healthy bacteria in the gut, specifically lactobacilla species, which create the unfriendly environment for yeast, fungus, and bacteria.

This supplement is tough on the tummy because of heavy duty essential oils, so be aware that it can cause tummy aches!

It’s also NOT VEGAN! Inner Defense contains tilapia and carp in order to create capsules strong enough to contain the intense essential oils within. We have limited choices when it comes to creating shelf stable capsules that will not dissolve under the strength of these essential oils, so with the alternative capsule being made of carrageenan and pork derivative, Young Living chose the fish version. (Vegan DIY Inner Defense below.)

Who Should Take Inner Defense

This supplement is labeled for children and adults ages 12 and older. Take caution when giving this to children because it’s so tough on the tummy. Some parents stick a needle in the capsule and rub the contents on their childrens’ feet, but some of the oils in it are hot in temperature, so I recommend further diluting in a carrier oil ( it is already somewhat diluted with coconut oil).

Some women avoid lemongrass while pregnant, so this might not be the perfect supplement for you.

Companion Products

Many people choose to take Life 9 while taking Inner Defense. However, do not take them at the same time. Instead consider taking Life 9 at night and Inner Defense in morning in order to give the good bacteria in Life 9 the best possible chance of survival.

Don’t Have Inner Defense?

… Or don’t want to take it because it is not vegan?Vegan alternative: make your own Inner Defense by adding Thieves, lemongrass, thyme, and oregano to a Young Living veggie cap. Then, take immediately (do not make in bulk) because the potent essential oils will eat through the veggie cap. So make and take ’em!

Another great supplement to support the immune system is Immupro.
