Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil comes from the leaves of an evergreen tree native to Australia. Also known as black peppermint, it has a distinctly minty aroma that can freshen and enliven any room.

What It’s For

The fresh aroma of Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil encourages a sense of refreshment and renewal. Because of this uplifting aroma, many salons and spas choose this esential oil to promotes a stimulating and rejuvenating environment. Applied to the chest or back, it can help calm and relax. Compared to other varieties of eucalyptus, the aroma is slightly sweeter with a hint of citrus notes.

Constituent Highlight

The fresh menthol aroma comes from 1,8 cineole, or eucalyptol. Eucalyptol is frequently used for respiratory support, as well as in toothpastes and personal care products. If you have concerns, you can learn more about this compound here


Many people like to add eucalyptus to a diffuser or humidifier to support healthy respiration. Additionally, the cooling properties make this a good option for an after-workout massage to soothe fatigued muscles. Some people choose this variety of eucalyptus because it has a milder aroma than Eucalyptus globulus.


Breathe Again Roll-On contains eucalyptus, along with some other essential oils for supporting the airways. You may also want to combine it with your favorite massage or carrier oil, such as OrthoEase, for a great muscle relief rub.

  1. You mention not to ingest but you can diffuse this. Since breathing this in it can get into the blood stream so can you explain the difference between ingesting and breathing in this oil when it gets into the blood stream? Thanks!

    • Ingesting goes through different metabolism pathways and the risk for toxicity can be higher with certain essential oils. That is why I recommend against ingestion with this oil.
